Here are some guidelines for using your blogging time. Use this as a starting point, and don’t be afraid to experiment until you find your personal blogging “sweet spot!”

Initial time ratio 50/30/20.

50% of your time creating content
30% of your time on marketing/traffic generation
20% of your time on the technical stuff

So in the 10-hour example I used in the webinar that would work out to:

5 hours of content creation per week.
3 hours of marketing/traffic generation
2 hours of technical stuff

And here’s a formula for how to use your Marketing/Traffic Generation time:

Commenting on other blogs – 30% of marketing time (about 1-hour)
SEO – 20% of marketing time (about 30-minutes)
Social Bookmarking – 20% of marketing time (about 30-minutes)
Social networking – 20% of marketing time (about 30-minutes)
Other – 10% of marketing time (about 15-minutes, or save it up and spend 1-hour once a month).
